136 ultramarathon challenge and community event for the Wye River

13th of October | 2:30 - 5 | The Drill Hall, Lower Church Street, Chepstow, NP16 5HJ
Lower Church Street Chepstow NP16 5HJ

Please join our community event just over the bridge in Chepstow, Drill Hall, 2:30 – 5pm Sunday 13th October, and cheer Mark over the finishing line! Mark from Big Adventures on Average Talent will be attempting to beat the Fastest Known Time to run the 136 mile Wye Valley Walk to raise awareness and funds for the efforts to protect and restore the River Wye. Despite being part of a Special Area of Conservation, meaning it should receive the highest level of protection in the UK, the River Wye is in trouble: the pollution is getting worse and the impact on the wider ecosystem is deepening. If all goes well, Mark will finish his epic challenge in time to join the community event on 13th October. In the meantime we have an array of stalls, talks and activities about wildlife, ecology, the plight of the River Wye (and how you can get involved), running and adventure. We will also have a talk by Kate Strong, who is a multi-record-holding cyclist and environmental adventure activist. Perhaps we could organise some lift shares to get people over to Chepstow?
