Stitch & Switch x Future Leap Sustainable Fashion Evening

Watch a Reel of the night here

On 15th September, the Future Leap Network hosted a “Stitch & Switch x Future Leap Sustainable Fashion Evening” in collaboration with Sustainable Fashion Week.

The evening offered attendees the chance to get their clothes mended, swap unwanted clothes for other preloved garments, and listen to inspiring speakers talk about sustainable fashion.

It was held at Future Leap’s Bishopston Hub, and attracted nearly 60 attendees who were able to enjoy the evening over drinks and music.

Before the talks were due to begin, Katherine Piper (Head of Sustainability and Partnerships) introduced the audience to the session as well as work being done at Future Leap.

Talks were given from:

  • Molly Hayden, Certification Officer, Soil Association Certification – an introduction to the organic certification and the circular economy
  • Rob Webbon, CEO and Head of Climate Positivity, Presca Sportswear – circularity within the context of the wider clothing industry and specifically the re-using/mending elements
  • Jess Strain, Founder, Ovrbloom – transparency as a whole within the fashion industry

Q&A was lively and the audience had many engaging questions for our panel.

Mending was kindly provided by Maria Loria, Founder of Wear My Wardrobe Out. The clothing stock was kindly provided by Sustainable Fashion Week.

Afterwards, Katherine closed the event and attendees were able to stay for a final round of clothes swapping, clothes repairing, drinks and music.

Thank you Sustainable Fashion Week and Wear My Wardrobe Out for supporting this event, and to our speakers for providing their insightful conversations.
