Dear Future leap community,
First, a big thank you to all sponsors, exhibitors and attendees at this year’s Festival of Sustainable Business Exhibition! Held at the newly re-opened We The Curious last Thursday, we saw the South West’s sustainable business community come together. Businesses and individuals striving for a more sustainable future celebrated their achievements, fostered connections and sparked new conversations. With 48 indoor exhibitors, buzzing networking zones, and insights from 20 inspiring speakers on the Just Transition talks stage, the place hummed with energy. On Millenium Square, the interactive Transport and Tech zone showcased 12 exhibitors, featuring 8 cutting-edge electric vehicles.
On the same day Future Leap was awarded “Sustainable Business of the Year” at the Business Leader South West Awards.
What has already been achieved this year is a testament to our fantastic team. Now is your chance to join us! With more work to deliver we are looking for a Director of Strategic Partnerships to support our mission of helping businesses achieve Net zero. Watch this space as we’ll announce additional roles soon.
And now that it’s officially Autumn it’s time to think about Christmas!
Our consultancy team has supported The Canteen in calculating the carbon intensity of their Christmas menu. The Canteen Christmas comes in at 53% less carbon-intensive than your traditional turkey meal, providing a Lower-Carbon Christmas and is something to really shout about! If your team is looking for a low carbon celebration option, they are already taking bookings.
If you are looking for a carbon neutral space to host your Christmas celebration or event why not consider the Future Leap hub on Gloucester Road. Our Event Space and Networking Area are perfect for both formal and informal get-togethers. Catering can be provided. Send your inquiry to hub@futureleap.co.uk.
As we approach the holiday season, it’s important to recognise the potential for waste, from disposable plastic gifts to increased travel and, of course, food waste. In the UK alone, approximately 230,000 tonnes of food are discarded during Christmas. To put that in perspective, with the average person consuming 35 tonnes of food over a lifetime, this means we’re wasting the equivalent of over 6,500 people’s entire lifetime food supply in just a few weeks.
Our consultancy team have also recently completed the delivery of 29 decarbonisaiton reports for businesses across North Somerset, enabling these businesses to apply for grant funding to implement the carbon reduction recommendations highlighted. We are delighted to be able to support North Somerset Council in their efforts to make the region more sustainable while supporting local business in the process.
If your business is looking for new carbon-neutral headquarters, we have two offices available in our Future Leap Clifton hub. Boasting plenty of natural light and period features, this is your chance to join our community. To find out more please email hub@futureleap.co.uk.
Now that’s we’ve already broached the subject of Christmas, it’s never too early to talk about next year. Early bird tickets are available for the Festival of Sustainable Business Conference.
With relentless optimism,
The Future Leap Team
