Boiler Upgrade Scheme
This article was written by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Overview of the scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a £450 million government initiative running from 2022-2025 to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems, such as heat pumps. Through grant funding, property owners will receive help to overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies.
The scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties in England and Wales.
What you’ll get:
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler
- £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump
Administered by Ofgem and supported by energy suppliers, the scheme will contribute to the UK’s public commitment to reduce emissions and install 80,000 heat pumps per year by 2025.
