Future Leap 2022 Round Up with Fenna Leake

2022 was a big year for Future Leap with some significant milestones and more on the horizon for this year ahead. Although this past year has had its difficult moments for our own business and others alike; the cost of living and energy crises, climate change, political uncertainty, and the aftermath of covid. Despite all that madness Future Leap sometimes feels like an oasis in the storm… a place where progressive, likeminded individuals can work collaboratively towards a more sustainable future and enjoy doing so.

Future Leap consultancy are proud to have supported many businesses with carbon reduction plans and sustainability initiatives helping them on the journey to Net Zero. In addition to growing the team by bringing in two junior consultants, Luc and Tyler, we branched out into the delivery of skills and training workshops by partnering with UWE on their Skills for Green Growth programme. We continued to support multiple clients with their strategic sustainability goals, including Nijhuis industries, Stancold PLC, Gilcrest manufacturing, Banner and Sustainable kitchens and look forward to developing these relationships and others into 2023 and beyond.

Future Leap are also a proud partner of North Somerset council offering funded Net-Zero support to organisations in the area including Freeways Trust, Weston Hospice Care, Strawberry Line, A&R House and Zero Waste Pantry.

The coming year is gearing up to be exciting, with a continuation of our workshop series with UWE, and also the delivery of a sustainability bootcamp course in partnership with Bath Spa University.

We have developed a holistic suite of services to support businesses of all sizes on their sustainability journey; from carbon-neutral office spaces, networking and events to directly supporting clients with professional services and retrofit recommendations. But there was a missing piece! Introducing Future Leap Finance; launched in May 2022 to provide funding mechanisms to speed up progress in green initiatives. Future Leap Finance can help you measure your impact, access green tech, and fund implementation.

We can’t reflect on the past year and not mention the launch of our second co-working space, Future Leap Clifton at The Old Chapel on Oakfield Road. This project was an opportunity to retrofit a more challenging building and develop a new model of collaboration. Future Leap Clifton is a new venture under a joint ownership structure with the building owners. Our two co-working spaces are carbon neutral, with our emissions measured, reduced and then offset via gold standard projects.

Early in 2023 will see the launch of Future Leap Clifton’s media studios. The studios will offer two podcast recording spaces, spacious film and photography studios including a 3.7 meter green screen infinity wall and equipment hire options.

Next year will also see the third iteration of the one and only Festival of Sustainable Business. Building a more sustainable future requires businesses to work together. The Festival of Sustainable Business provides a platform to discover the organisations leading the way. It will be split across three key dates in 2023. March 23rd will be an all-day hybrid conference featuring inspiring speakers covering topics of innovation and sustainability solutions and facilitating forward-thinking discussions. June 15th will see the exhibition at Paintworks, providing the chance to meet and network with those businesses at the forefront of sustainable progress and innovation. And finally, the Gala dinner and awards ceremony on 9th November will celebrate the wonderful work and achievements within organisations that are making excellent progress. Together, we can create lasting behaviour change and pave the way for a more sustainable future.

We are looking forward to continuing to develop our key relationships and supporting more businesses to achieve their sustainability objectives with some very exciting projects in the pipeline for 2023.
