The Green Register (TGR) is an independent not-for-profit organisation delivering high quality, affordable training in sustainable construction to all industry disciplines. Since the organisation’s inception in 2000, our passion is to empower individuals and organisations with the knowledge to create better building for people and planet. Through our membership, courses and events, we connect professionals working in sustainable construction to one another and to those seeking their services.  

Description   

The Green Register is seeking a Programme Lead to support the organisation’s development and delivery of a variety of training initiatives across several programmes.  

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, informed and organised individual to make a significant impact upon the construction sector in the UK and beyond by providing skills and knowledge for more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings. This challenging and rewarding role will be central to innovations starting imminently which will have far-reaching impact upon skills and training in the sector.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, curating and producing high-quality training content for The Green Register’s regular programme of events and within special projects. This will range from delivering one-off events, to online and in-person training series, to an entire qualification.  Working with the Director, strategic focus and commitment to the growth plan for the organisation will be key to this role, in addition to identifying new opportunities and areas of expansion and influence to ensure TGR remains centre stage in the sustainable building training provider sector.  

The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator, a clear thinker, able to identify and pursue collaborative opportunities to the organisation’s advantage and possess excellent time-management skills to work efficiently with the small but proficient team.  

Role outline 

Job title: Programme Lead 

Contract type: Permanent, subject to satisfactory 3-month probation period 

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, with the potential to increase hours as the role develops. There is an opportunity to work flexibly to suit the role. Hybrid working is supported, to include some time at our office at Create Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol BS1 6XN and external meetings/events  

Salary: ÂŁ44,850 pro rata 

Key tasks and responsibilities 

  • Work with Events & Training Manager and Director to develop and deliver training and events programmes across the organisation 
  • Lead strategic content planning for the organisation 
  • Build upon TGR’s network of trainers and subject experts to expand the delivery of established and emerging training topics to The Green Register’s audience 
  • Maintain quality standards for organisational products and services 
  • Grow opportunities for the organisation to reach new markets, nurture existing and new collaborations, discover expert trainers and quality content   
  • Active participation in the sustainable construction sector as a TGR ambassador 
  • Actively stay updated with new marketplace and legislation developments 
  • Supply chain community development; run engagement events, database management, correspondence 
  • Create a technical advisory and training group to service a variety of organisational products and services 
  • Lead growth plan on several initiatives including CPD programme and retrofit qualification 
  • Work collaboratively and strategically with the Business Director and managers to ensure that the organisation sets and achieves challenging targets and adheres to strategic goals 
  • Identification of new opportunities, collaborations and areas of expansion and influence. 

Person specification 

Essential 

  • Five years minimum experience in the construction industry in a construction-related role,  with substantial and verifiable technical construction knowledge  
  • A commitment to and verifiable knowledge of sustainable building methods to improve the working practices of the construction industry 
  • Creative thinker who can generate ideas and deliver on plans to meet the needs of existing audiences and to attract new industry sectors 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven record of partnership-building 
  • Clear communicator, with the ability to connect with target markets to develop and deliver required products and services 
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise, plan effectively, set and meet deadlines 

Desirable 

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable construction concepts, methods and materials  
  • Extensive professional network that may include some or all of the following; construction professionals such as architects, contractors, engineers, surveyors; subject experts/trainers, local authorities, housing associations 
  • Lead and deliver content via training sessions 
  • Experience of building professional communities 

This permanent role is 22.5 hours per week, with an immediate start available
